Puddleducks Children’s Day Nurseries York

“Laying foundations for lifelong learning”

Welcome to Puddleducks children’s day nurseries, the area’s only purpose-built, multi-award-winning childcare settings.

We now have two independent nurseries, both situated in beautiful rural North Yorkshire, perfectly located for families from York, Malton, Pickering, and all the quant villages in between. We have with an ambitious owner, present and involved in the running of the nursery every day.

We provide a secure, warm, and welcoming home-from-home environment where parents feel reassured to place their babies and children. We pride ourselves on our ‘family feel,’ where babies and children are cared for as valued members of our nursery family. So often parents’ feedback that within minutes of visiting our nurseries they just had a ‘feeling’. They just knew this was where they wanted their children to be. We wish we could put a label on that feeling, but it is probably an accumulation of lots of feelings coming together when you visit our nurseries. We always encourage parents to visit several nurseries. When you walk into the right one, you will know.

Please follow the link https://www.daynurseries.co.uk/daynursery.cfm/searchazref/65432197546 to read lots of reviews of our nurseries. These all come from the hearts of parents just like you and prove our high standards of care. We are here to support you and your family and make sure that looking for and starting a nursery is a pleasure.

From Sarah personally…..

I have been there; (too many!) years ago I set out to find a local nursery to care for my first precious baby boy because I was making the dreaded return to work. I was a primary teacher at that time, at a York school.
It was while visiting nurseries, (and I visited lots!) I realised what a huge position of trust it is to place your baby in the care of a team of people you have just met. In a nursery I wanted clean, homely facilities and caring, warm people to look after my baby. Yes, the standards of early education mattered to me, I was a teacher after all, but first and foremost I wanted to know my baby would be loved and happy. I wanted to know he would get cuddled when he was sad; that he would get help when he needed it; and that he would play and be happy.

And that was where it all began. I had a vision for what a nursery should be, and I set about making that a reality. I embarked on a two-year long journey of planning, meetings, research, and many sleepless nights and on June 25th, 2012, Puddleducks in Sheriff Hutton opened its doors.

In July 2022, ten years almost to the day, I opened Puddleducks number 2, in the market town of Malton. Opening our second site was not a decision taken lightly, but one that was motivated by endless requests from Malton families! We have always taken pride in our unique, stand-alone setting. The decision to open a second nursery was only possible when I knew I had a team of people in place at our existing nursery, who would continue to embed our values and ethos wholeheartedly.

Our staff team has grown from 3 to 50 across both sites, and I must give recognition to the truly wonderful people I have working with me, who really do make Puddleducks the place it is. They support my values and ethos and work tirelessly to provide the very best care for our children. We are a close-knit team; we laugh lots; many of us are parents ourselves and therefore share the trials and tribulations of parenting, but most importantly we all share the same view that babies and children deserve the very best care and early education that we can possibly provide, and we will always strive to achieve that. I put our success down to good old-fashioned hard work, passion and unwavering commitment.

The ‘baby’ who inspired me to open Puddleducks is now at secondary school, and taller than me! Since then, he has gained a brother in 2013, and sister in 2018. All 3 of my children have had a wonderful start at Puddleducks, and I will continue to use them and my values as a parent to set the standards within what is most definitely my fourth baby, ‘Puddleducks’.
