“Where do I start with my wonderful journey so far at Puddleducks Nursery …….? I joined the team back in March 2016, as a practitioner in the beautiful new baby room and from there my career path at Puddleducks has accelerated, alongside my knowledge and confidence.
I was previously at another local nursery but my love and passion for working with children was truly realised when I stepped foot into Puddleducks. I have grown so much in myself through the support and kindness from Sarah and the team. I have been on such a journey, from joining as a baby room practitioner; to progress to toddler room leader; to the nursery deputy manager, and now the nursery manager. I did all this whilst studying my Foundation Degree and then my Bachelor of Arts Degree alongside. Puddleducks Nursery has provided me with so many opportunities to expand my roles and responsibilities and access training courses, which have all furthered my experiences and developed my practice, to make me the best I can be!
We are a very close-knit team, and we always say you must enjoy coming to work as we spend more time here than we do at home with our own families. This is so true, and I can truly say this is the case for me! The team are all very kind, caring, funny and supportive. Outside of the nursery we all enjoy going out together on team outings to develop our team building skills and many of the girls have formed long lasting friendships! I got married in July 2021, and the whole team surprised me with a hen party at the boss’s house. It was an incredible day.
We are one huge family. We have strong partnerships with our families and loving relationships with the children. We are a passionate team who are dedicated to providing exceptional education and care.
It is such an honour to be able to say that I am the nursery manager of an outstanding and nurturing nursery where the team is filled with inspirational women. It has been one of the best decisions I have made in my life to come and join this amazing nursery, and I am excited to see what is to come, with our sister nursery opening this year.”
“I’ve worked in early years for over 30 years, both in nurseries and in a reception class in a school. I can honestly say that as soon as I walked in to Puddleducks I knew it was a very special place. Sarah who owns the nursery and also Lucy the manager is so passionate about it and since working here it is clear that all the staff embrace new ideas and challenges and are encouraged by management to do so.
I worked in the baby room for a couple of years which I thoroughly enjoyed, and I am now the deputy room leader of the preschool, which is equally as rewarding. It’s so refreshing to be able to ask for resources to enhance the children learning and always get them purchased; Sarah always puts so much back into the nursery, and it shows. As a team we embarked on the curiosity approach journey. This was fantastic and has enabled us to develop and create the home from home beautiful, learning environment we are today. It has a lovely family atmosphere where people really care about each other. My best friend of over 45 years and my god daughter both work at Puddleducks, as does my daughter who is the nursery cook.
We have worked hard as a team to input and produce a curriculum tailor-made for Puddleducks. This incorporates all the values we feel are important to make sure that the children in our care leave us as well-rounded, confident individuals who are naturally curious about the World they live in.”
“I have worked in a range of early years setting, most recently completing 10 years in an early year’s department at a primary school. I joined Puddleducks in October 2021but was nervous, having worked somewhere else for so long. From my interview, to meeting the team, to my first day working here, I was made to feel instantly part of the family. I work in the toddler room and could honestly not ask for a more caring, kind, and friendly team, and that extends to the wider nursery team. My own personal well-being has improved significantly since working here, in an environment that is supportive, nurturing, and welcoming.
Management observe staff practice and I was nervous about being observed, despite lots of reassurance from my team. The feedback was so positive, warm, and constructive. I love the ‘Curiosity Approach’ that the nursery adopts. It means that children lead their own learning, and benefit from a beautiful environment”.
“Having studied childcare and worked in various settings, I joined Puddleducks in 2016. In 2019 we completed the Curiosity Approach accreditation, which transformed our nursery into the most homely, warm place for children to learn and grow. Children get the most amazing real-life experiences and lead their own learning. We work as a very close-knit team, and I am so grateful for the many friendships I have made. We often get treated to meals out for our hard work.
On a personal level, the management have shown lots of love and empathy through some of the most difficult times in my personal life. They always have time to listen and offer support and advice. They would always give me the time off I needed without hesitation, always checking in and keeping in touch when I needed time off”.
